Welcome to the season of Advent
Advent is a season of waiting, hoping, preparing, and paying attention. And this year at Central Vineyard, we’re beginning that journey with a new reflection series called Introduction.
Luke opens his Gospel by telling us why he’s writing — so that we might know the story with certainty (Luke 1:1–4). Then he introduces us to the first people drawn into the arrival of Jesus — characters whose lives echo the Advent themes of Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. Across November and December, we’ll step into these stories again — Zechariah, Elizabeth, Mary, Simeon, Anna — and allow their lives to draw us deeper into the arrival of Christ.
Each Sunday in Advent, our gathering will include:
Lighting the Advent wreath candles
Space for prayer and contemplation
A reflection homily in the Introductions series
Creative performance elements that accompany each Advent theme
A weekly Advent devotional on the theme of the week, available to take home each Sunday
Come expectant — which is our first theme this Sunday — as Advent begins, and we look at how Luke invites us into the story once more.
