New series: Parables
The disciples came to Jesus, and asked him, “Why do you speak in parables?” It’s a good question. Why the cryptic stories? Why not just speak plainly?
This term at Central Vineyard, we’re asking the same question, and beginning a new teaching series: Parables: exploring Jesus’ stories of the Kingdom
Jesus’ parables are some of the most famous words ever spoken — The Good Samaritan, The Prodigal Son, The Mustard Seed — and yet, when we sit with them, they’re wonderfully strange. They refuse to stay neat. They comfort and confront. They raise more questions than answers. But through these stories, Jesus invites us to see and hear differently — to notice the Kingdom of God breaking into ordinary life: in fields, kitchens, and dinner tables; in mercy, justice, and grace.
Join us over the coming weeks as we slow down, listen deeply, and learn to see the world through Jesus’ stories of comparison to the Kingdom.
And here’s something extra: we are going to be posting some devotional reflection guides to certain parables here on the Zine. So, be sure to keep your eye out here on our website for those as we roll them out each week.
May we have eyes to see, and ears to hear.
