Eight years ago, Gratis began with a simple “what if”—what if sharing kai and open doors could carry God’s love into the city? Out of that vision grew a space of hospitality, whanaungatanga, and care that points to Jesus.
Now we’re at another “what if” moment. A generous donor has pledged up to $30,000 in start-up funding—if we can imagine a sustainable micro-enterprise that will help fuel Gratis for the years ahead.
This is where you come in. We’re looking for ideas and creativity, yes—but also for wisdom, experience, and curiosity. If you have a passion for social enterprise, a background in business, or even just an interest in seeing Gratis thrive through this funding model, we’d love you to be part of the conversation. Whether you bring a fully formed idea, a half-baked thought, your experience, or simply your interest and curiosity, your presence matters.
For this first evening together at Community Hall, we’ll have some friends lead us through an ideation style workshop to explore the opportunity and start getting ideas flowing that can help shape the next chapter of Gratis.
DOORS OPEN 7PM FOR SUPPER, 7:30PM START.

This is very helpful for our friends facilitating the evening, and for catering.
